FOCUSED ON FLEXIBILITY
With demand growing for its flexible workspaces, Somerset Development is doubling down on the concept with a
new 72,000-square-foot facility geared toward medium-sized businesses.
The firm said the new offering, known as Campus, will bring fully furnished, fully wired suites with flexible lease terms to its Bell Works campus in Holmdel. Set to open in the fourth quarter, the space will likely cater to companies and enterprises that are returning to the office and perhaps pursuing a so-called hub-and- spoke model, through which they maintain satellite offices surrounding their main headquarters locations.
Somerset also expects to attract businesses whose employees will split time between remote work and the office, adding to the need for flexibility.
“Over the next several months, many businesses will be faced with challenging decisions on how they can provide their
employees with opportunities to return to the office while the realities of a post- pandemic world unfold in real time,” said Ralph Zucker, president of Somerset Development. “For those businesses asking themselves ‘What do we do now?’ Campus presents a workspace solution allowing them to maintain flexibility with both their office footprint and their workforce as business continues to evolve.”
The facility will follow other workspace options at Bell Works, the 2 million- square-foot former Bell Labs research hub on Crawfords Corner Road, including a membership-based co-working area known as coLab. The recently expanded space offers shared and individual desks, dedicated solo offices and team suites through membership subscriptions.
G3 Architects and NPZ Style & Décor,
led by Bell Works Creative Director Paola Zamudio, collaborated on the design for the new workspaces, the news release said. To that end, Campus will feature distinctive, sustainable and biophilic elements, including renewable selections, repurposed materials, the use of LED and natural lighting and indoor plants.
