Another big area for us is assisting clients with structuring complex tax-deferred exchanges under IRC Section 1031 (“1031 Exchange”) for all types of investment real estate including multifamily apartment, mixed-use and office buildings and industrial properties.
TRANSACTION SPOTLIGHT
We filed and prosecuted a tax appeal on a Country
Club property that was resolved this year for significant tax savings to the taxpayer in addition to creating an opportunity for the taxpayer to sell an adjoining tract of vacant land to the municipality for use as open space. The appeal and transaction greatly benefited the taxpayer and municipality and would likely not have occurred without the appeal and skillful negotiations with the Township.
