OUR CLIENTS
For more than fifty years Thriven Design has teamed
with project partners committed to serving others and creating places where people thrive. Our firm is known for fostering long-term relationships with clients, and together we have added nearly 60,000 units of affordable, supportive, market-rate and student housing nationwide.
OUR ADVANTAGE
Thriven Design’s four in-house studios take a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach from the very start of each project’s lifespan. This unique interplay between architecture, engineering, planning and interior design furthers creativity, problem solving and shared appreciation for the design concerns of each discipline. The result is a holistic understanding of a project’s needs, more productive communication and smoother, faster project timelines.
ON THE HORIZON
Our project partners are seeking designs that can withstand the test of time. At Thriven Design, we know the key to the longevity and enduring appeal of a space lies in its flexibility. Can a building’s interior be reprogrammed as the needs of its occupants evolve? Can building systems accommodate use — and reuse? Are materials sustainable and resilient? PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
Thriven Design is proud to have partnered with The
New Jersey Community Development Corporation and
St. Joseph’s Medical Center to provide architectural, engineering and interior design services for the Barclay Street Apartments in Paterson, NJ. As NJHMFA’s pilot project for its healthy communities initiative, Barclay Street Apartments is designed as a bold, unconventional solution to reducing both homelessness and frequent emergency room utilization. The project combines 56 upper-floor apartment units with one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts with a 3,000-square-foot ground floor health care space operated by St. Joseph’s Medical Center. On-site medical professionals provide case management and support services for residents, many of whom relied previously
on the emergency room for their care. “Access to safe, quality, affordable housing — and the supports necessary to maintain that housing — constitute one of the most basic and powerful social determinants of health,” said
St. Joseph’s Health President & CEO Kevin J. Slavin at the 2019 unveiling of the partnership program. “We are very proud to build the first housing unit as part of the Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program and to create a space outside our hospital walls that addresses the health needs within our community.”
