TRANSACTION SPOTLIGHT
This year, CWAH resolved multiyear litigation in
Tax Court, resulting in significant refunds for the overpayment of taxes. It has become common throughout New Jersey — an over assessed stranded asset in a declining market continues to languish under the burden of an oppressive tax bill. CWAH attorneys routinely counsel and assist owners of over-taxes real estate to help bring operating costs down and revenue up. We were able to settle a tax appeal on the eve of trial that resulted in reductions in assessments for a vacant office building. The office building was assessed at more than three times its market value. The extraordinary tax bills were a disincentive for needed capital improvements to allow the building to compete in the market.
