Redevelopment projects seeking to include PILOT agreements and other state and local tax incentives will continue to be a substantial growth area for our group. We currently are involved in approximately 25 deals that involve PILOT and/or incentive negotiations and we see no approaching trend that will curtail that activity in the coming year.
Furthermore, we also expect heavy activity in our property taxation projection work as well as the prosecution of conventional tax appeals for those properties that have not fared so well.
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
CSG Law’s Real Property Taxation & Incentives Group has been involved in numerous projects calling for innovative, forward-looking solutions. Recently this
has included work for a wide variety of companies, including entertainment providers, as they look to take advantage of incentives available in New Jersey. The Group is charged with negotiating various valuation and taxation issues and assisting in the application for, and management of, various local, municipal-level and state- provided tax incentives.
   Delivering insight on matters beyond simply the prosecution of a tax appeal, the CSG Law Real Property Taxation & Incentives Group brings a deep, technical understanding of real estate valuation principles needed to aid property owners, municipal leaders and real estate developers in gaining a clear view of the “bigger picture.” Our fully integrated practice — with core capabilities in property taxation, non-residential development fee and mansion tax projections, local tax abatements, exemptions, development tax incentives offered by the state and tax appeals — is steeped in all aspects of property valuation that are essential in answering the question of how much a parcel of real estate should be taxed.
With more than 35 years of experience, John R. Lloyd serves as Chair of the Group, which works in tandem with the more than 40 attorneys in the firm’s combined Real Estate Group.
