A new owner has taken the reins at Caryl Communications, a longtime public relations and marketing firm with deep ties to New Jersey’s commercial real estate sector.
Caryl Bixon-Gordon, who founded the award-winning agency in 1984, has transferred ownership to longtime team member Sandy Crisafulli, who joined the agency in 1992 and rose to become its chief operating officer in 2020. Bixon-Gordon has retired alongside her husband, Bob Gordon, who had been the firm’s chief financial officer.
“This was a carefully planned, natural transition,” Bixon-Gordon said. “The agency is in a very strong position and will continue to thrive under Sandy’s stewardship.”
Caryl Communications has grown over nearly four decades, thanks in part to a client base that has included many well-known New Jersey commercial real estate firms. Current clients include NAIOP New Jersey, Prism Capital Partners, Levin Management Corp. and JDA Group LLC, among others.
Crisafulli, a resident of Kingston, New York, joined Caryl in 1992. She came to the firm after her career launch as a journalist, serving as its first full-time writer, before moving to account manager and becoming vice president through the late 1990s.
She subsequently focused on account management, writing and media relations as a contractor prior to her appointment as chief operating officer in 2020, according to a news release.
“Not everyone has the advantage of learning the PR business from one of the industry’s best, and it’s certainly a rare chance — 30 years later — to be given the opportunity to continue that mentor’s legacy,” Crisafulli said. “I am incredibly grateful and thrilled about what is to come for Caryl Communications. I’m also so appreciative of the outstanding clients and talented team that will be part of the company’s future.”
The firm recently established a new headquarters address in Hoboken.
