The developer behind the Urby residential brand is set to unveil its latest project, a 317-unit apartment tower in Jersey City’s booming Journal Square neighborhood.
According to the firm, leasing for the new 25-story building at 575 Pavonia Ave. is set to begin in June. Renters at the property will choose from floorplans ranging from studios to three-bedrooms, while they’ll have access to shared spaces such as a public café integrated into the lobby, a high-end fitness center with an adjoining yoga studio and indoor and outdoor spaces.
They’ll also be directly across from the Journal Square PATH station, in one of the key features for what is the seventh Urby building to open nationwide and the second in Jersey City.
“We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming leasing launch for the latest expansion of the Urby brand,” said David Barry, Urby’s founder and CEO. “This boutique residential building will seamlessly integrate into the fabric of the culturally rich and well-connected Journal Square neighborhood while providing residents with modern living spaces and engaging social environments.”
The new Urby tower comes as construction continues to surge around Journal Square, bringing new apartments, retailers and cultural and culinary offerings to what was the historic commercial hub of Jersey City and Hudson County. That’s due in large part to the area’s mass transit access and walkability.
Designed by Concrete, the Dutch design firm behind citizenM Hotels worldwide, with HLW serving as executive architect, Journal Square Urby aims to blend the neighborhood’s streetscape while presenting a visually captivating tower characterized by three distinct masses, according to a news release. The developer noted that it has commissioned a mural on the south side of the building that extends all 25 stories, the largest work to date by the contemporary Argentinian-Spanish artist Felipe Pantone.
Journal Square Urby’s other amenities include a rooftop garden with grills, a dog park and a heated pool with sweeping views of Jersey City, along with work-from-home space. Many of the apartments provide panoramic views of downtown Jersey City, the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
