A two-story carriage home in Flemington has changed hands for $280,000, in a newly announced deal by Sheldon Gross Realty.
The brokerage team said the house, located at 3 Pennsylvania Ave., drew interest thanks in part to recent momentum and investment in the borough’s downtown. It’s also adjacent to a 4,000-square-foot commercial building at 2 Main St. that the firm has listed for sale or lease, which benefits from a location in Flemington’s downtown business zone and an area in which more than half of the buildings are on the National Historic Register.

“Everyone in the area knows Flemington’s growing — people move in and revitalization ramps up,” Jonathan Gross said. “Whenever a property sells right near the downtown area, or when a significant commercial location is available, it confirms that positive change is well underway. People see the transformation taking place and are eager to invest in properties so they can be part of it.”
In a news release, Sheldon Gross noted that the commercial building dates to 1890 and was renovated in 2017. Additional interior upgrades are also nearly complete, the firm said, adding that the former restaurant space is suited to be another eatery, bakery, café, thrift shop or office.
It’s also steps from hotels, office buildings and projects such as the historic, 100-room Union Hotel that is part of the downtown’s Courthouse Square redevelopment. The hotel’s ground floor will house Union Steak, a fine dining steakhouse from celebrity chef David Burke that’s scheduled to open in 2025.
“I actually live nearby, so I’ve been watching the overall level of local activity increase,” Gross added. “It’s exciting that with each passing month, Flemington becomes more vibrant. Whenever someone purchases a residence or opens a business, the entire community benefits.”
