Deugen Design Build has broken ground in Saddle Brook on a new 125,000-square-foot self-storage and truck rental facility for U-Haul International.
According to the development team, the project at 210 Route 46 will replace what was an aging U-Haul complex just east of 6th Street. Construction is underway and is slated to conclude in late 2025, helping to reinforce U-Haul’s presence in the area while providing a range of self-storage options and truck rentals to residents and businesses.
Hoboken-based Deugen is the designated fee developer for the project and navigated what said was a complex approval and planning processes. It marks the fifth collaboration between Deugen and U-Haul, the firm said, noting that the project team also includes Architectura, civil engineers with Stonefield Engineering and land use counsel from Cleary Giacobbe Alfieri Jacobs LLC.
“Breaking ground on this facility is not just a construction milestone — it signifies our commitment to improving community access to reliable storage and moving solutions,” said Eric Gormeley, CEO of Deugen Design Build. “We are excited to partner with U-Haul and our esteemed collaborators to bring this vital resource to life for the Saddle Brook community.”
Deugen added that the facility is expected to create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth in the area.
