A fast-growing dim sum concept is entering New Jersey with a newly announced location in Hoboken, joining the tenant roster at a high-profile mixed-use project by The Taurasi Group.
The eatery, Nana’s Dim Sum & Dumplings, has leased 3,700 square feet at what’s known as Southend Hoboken at 38 Jackson St. The new restaurant will have seating for some 80 guests with a liquor license, offering a menu that includes handmade dumplings, noodles, dim sum and other small plates in what the operator described as a warm environment.
It’s now among the newest additions to Southend Hoboken’s 100,000 square feet of commercial and retail space, part of the historic Davis Baking Powder and My-T-Fine Pudding factory that has been restored and retrofitted and also includes 110 upscale condominiums.

“Our scouting team spent more than a year researching new markets, and we knew right away that the south end of Hoboken was the right fit for Nana’s,” said Nick Yang, a director of East Nana Holding. “This will be our first location in a mixed-use building, and we’re excited about the opportunity to serve as an extended amenity for homeowners of Southend Lofts while welcoming the entire community. Every Nana’s location reflects the same care and consistency in flavor, design and service, but we also take pride in making each one feel special to its neighborhood. We look forward to bringing that spirit to Hoboken.”
Founded just two years ago in Colorado, Nana’s has quickly built a devoted following with locations in Boulder, Denver’s LoHi neighborhood and Aurora, followed by its most recent expansion in Scarsdale, New York, according to a news release. The Hoboken restaurant marks another milestone for the growing brand, which now has seven locations with four more in development, including a Manhattan store.
The menu has classic dim sum favorites like shrimp and pork dumplings, siu mai and black bean spareribs, along with Cantonese-inspired dishes, noodles, buns, fried rice, soups and heartier entrees, the news release said. Expected to open by next summer, the location will serve as a new destination for Southend Lofts residents, the emerging south end neighborhood and the wider Hoboken community.
At the Taurasi Group property, Nana’s joins a growing lineup of retailers and restaurants that will include a 25,100-square-foot, full-service fitness facility and a 12,500-square-foot supermarket, as well as Under Pressure Espresso Bar, a 2,223-square-foot craft coffee concept, and Greek Kitchen. The developer expects to announce an additional 24,285-square-foot anchor tenant shortly, bringing the project’s retail space to 72 percent preleased, with leasing led by Charter Realty’s Scott Edlitz.
“Nana’s is exactly the kind of tenant we envisioned for Southend Hoboken — a vibrant, high-quality restaurant that complements the residential, retail and lifestyle elements we’re creating,” said Gary Mezzatesta, managing partner of The Taurasi Group. “Their emphasis on authenticity, warmth and community connection aligns perfectly with our vision for Southend Hoboken as a place where homeowners and visitors come together.”
Prices for the condos start at $795,000 for one-bedrooms, $1.25 million for two-bedrooms, $1.85 million for three-bedrooms and $3.7 million for four- and five-bedroom duplex penthouses with large terraces, Manhattan skyline views and outdoor kitchens designed for entertaining. Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing NJ is leading the marketing and sales effort, with initial occupancy slated for this winter.
