A new swim school is coming to a Bergen County shopping center, where it will occupy nearly 5,600 square feet under a lease secured by RIPCO Real Estate.

Brokers say the operator, Five Star Swim School, is slated to open this spring at Copper Tree Shopping Plaza in Oakland. The location at 350 Ramapo Valley Road will be the regional chain’s 10th in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, joining and supporting neighboring tenants such as Dollar Tree, Pet Supplies Plus, Leslie’s Pools, Valley National Bank and others.

RIPCO Executive Vice President Curtis Nassau and Managing Director Matt Grundy represented ownership at the 120,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center.

“Five Star Swim School is an ideal addition to Copper Tree Shopping Plaza, as it brings a strong, family-oriented use that aligns well with the center’s existing tenant mix,” Nassau said. “We expect the swim school to drive consistent visitation from parents and children, while also increasing cross-shopping activity that benefits neighboring retailers throughout the center.”

RIPCO announced the 5,594-square-foot deal while noting that Five Star Swim School provides specialized swim instruction for children of all ages. The new Oakland location expands the brand’s footprint in high-income suburban markets and adds a strong family-focused use to the shopping center, the brokers said, touting the center’s location just off Interstate 287.

“Our leasing strategy focused on capitalizing on the center’s excellent visibility, strong local demographics and convenient access from U.S. Route 202 and I-287 to attract high-quality, service-driven tenants,” Grundy added. “Five Star Swim School’s proven operating model and regional presence make it a natural fit for the property and the surrounding community.”
