Atkins Cos. has completed three lease expansions at its recently acquired, 70,000-square-foot medical office building in Gloucester County’s Washington Township.
The deals at 405 Hurffville Cross Keys Road, known as the Washington Medical Arts Building, include a new 18,000-square-foot commitment by Rowan Medicine, according to a news release. The multidisciplinary provider, which has 14 specialty areas, is more than doubling its previous footprint of 7,800 square feet.
Atkins also announced that Weisman Children’s, a community-based specialty health care organization with an acute rehabilitation hospital, outpatient rehabilitation and medical day care centers, will now lease almost 11,000 square feet at the building. Jefferson Health, which uses the site as one of its outpatient rehab centers for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy services, is expanding by 1,400 square feet to more than 5,600 square feet.
“The health care real estate market has not been immune to the economic headwinds slowing the broader commercial real estate industry,” said Cory Atkins, a principal at West Orange-based Atkins Cos. “Despite a tight market, regional health care networks and specialty groups have continued to search for strategic opportunities to expand their footprints. We value our relationships with Rowan Medicine, Weisman Children’s and Jefferson Health and look forward to continuing to help them achieve their future growth goals.”
Atkins acquired the two-story building in early 2023 and kicked off a leasing and capital improvement plan to enhance the building’s common areas and convert what was previously nonmedical space to medical uses, while seeking to add 7,700 square feet of new leasable space, the news release said. The project’s completion is slated for spring 2024.
