A construction firm is marking the completion of two assisted living facilities in the region, including a 114-bed property in Union County.
According to the company, EW Howell Construction Group, the project at 4 Chatham Road in Summit has resulted in a 70,000-square-foot, steel and concrete structure that also includes lower-level parking. The firm served as the construction manager for the $21 million facility on behalf of Sunrise Senior Living, a McLean, Virginia-based operator with more than 320 senior living locations in North America and the United Kingdom.
EW Howell also completed a new Sunrise facility in Huntington Station, New York, the firm said in a news release. The Sunrise of Huntington community includes 90 units with 108 beds, providing assisted living and memory care services inside a two-story building, featuring amenities such as a wellness center, an activity room and a beauty salon.
“There has been a significant increase in the number of senior assisted living projects planned for the tristate area, many carrying completion dates within the next two years,” said Kevin McKenna, a vice president at Plainview, New York-based EW Howell, who is overseeing the work for Sunrise. “Communities on Long Island and in New Jersey are desperately in need of quality living options that provide seniors with the proper level of care and offer their families a peace of mind. The locations of these new Sunrise communities will fill a growing demand for key markets.”
