Dermody Properties has named a new east region partner to fill the role of a veteran industry executive who is retiring at year-end.

In a recent announcement, the developer said Robert Borny will step into the new position effective Jan. 1, in a move that comes less than six months after he was promoted to partner. He will now be responsible for all land and building acquisitions, build-to-suit projects, development activities and asset management in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, New York, Maryland and Virginia.
Borny succeeds Gene Preston, who has held the role since joining the Reno, Nevada-based firm in 2012 and will retire on Dec. 31.
“Dermody Properties provides a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes a culture of best-in-class, customer-focused service,” Borny said. “I am thankful for the opportunity and look forward to the future of the company and growing relationships with our investors and customers alike.”
Borny has earned recognition as one of the industry’s prominent young professionals, earning a spot last year in GlobeSt’s Fifty Under 40 list. In his four years with Dermody, he has sourced more than 2.5 million square feet of new developments and acquisitions, including LogistiCenter at Woolwich, a three-building park currently under construction on 154 acres in Woolwich Township, and a 608,442-square-foot distribution facility just off the New Jersey Turnpike at 150 Milford Road in East Windsor.
Borny joined the company in 2017.
“Rob has demonstrated an affluent skillset over the past several years and has brought a wealth of knowledge and professionalism to Dermody Properties that remains evident in all he does,” said Douglas A. Kiersey Jr., president of Dermody Properties. “He has been a vital contributor to the success of the company and its stakeholders and we are very pleased that Rob will now lead our business in such a key region.”
