A veteran engineer and development executive has joined Diversified Properties, in a move that bolsters the in-house team of the Montville-based commercial real estate firm.
In his role as vice president of land development, Steven Weinstein will be responsible for oversight and analysis of all third-party engineering work to promote overall cost containment and for conducting design review to improve the value of projects throughout all phases, the company said. He brings more than 35 years of industry experience and is a licensed professional engineer, with expertise in real estate development planning, design, entitlement and construction, forensic, remediation and design engineering services.
Weinstein is also a court-recognized engineering expert with experience in creating reports and testifying in high-profile construction litigation cases.
“Steve’s background in development as well as his extensive expertise in project value engineering make him ideally suited to join our team as we look to continue to expand our value-add development and redevelopment pipeline,” said Nicholas Minoia, founder and managing partner of Diversified Properties. “We are excited to enhance our internal capabilities with the addition of Steve and are confident his diverse skillset and experience will enable us to more aggressively identify and pursue value creation opportunities throughout the Northeast in the years to come.”
In a news release, Diversified said Weinstein is also a former development executive who has overseen projects from concept through construction. Additionally, his experience includes due diligence and design oversight in commercial and residential project approvals.
Prior to joining Diversified, Weinstein owned and managed his own independent professional engineering consulting services company, offering forensic evaluations of engineering design and construction deficiencies and the development of engineering remediation and design solutions, the news release said. Before launching that business in 2017, he served as a senior engineer for Falcon Engineering, where he specialized in investigation and remediation of construction deficiencies.
Weinstein has also received his professional accreditation in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, the nationally accepted benchmark for the design construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
