Avison Young has bolstered its capital
markets group in New Jersey with
the addition of Matthew Schnürr as a
principal.
The real estate services fi rm
said Schnürr, who is based in its
Morristown offi ce, joins its team
with more than three decades of
experience in equity, debt and
structured fi nance transactions
across all major asset classes and
having participated in more than
$31 billion in commercial real estate
sales, $6 billion
in structured
fi nance and $8
billion in debt
placements. In
his new role,
he’ll focus on

capabilities, with a particular
emphasis on complex fi nancial and
institutional joint ventures.

director of the fi rm’s U.S. capital
markets group. “His appointment
underscores our commitment to top
talent and innovative solutions in a

Prior to Avison Young, Schnürr was
co-head of the Transwestern New
York structured fi nance platform,
according to a news release.
Earlier in his career, he held roles
with Grubb & Ellis in the fi rm’s
institutional investment group, with
CB Commercial as a member of
its institutional services group and
with Drexel Burnham Lambert in its
corporate fi nance department.

JOHNSON JOINS
VIOLET PR TO LEAD
U.S. CAMPAIGNS
Violet PR has bolstered its Montclair-
based team with the addition of
veteran strategist Dan Johnson as an
account director.
The public relations agency, which
specializes in economic development
and real estate, said Johnson comes
to the role with more than 15 years
of communications and marketing
experience. He will lead strategic
communications programs for
Violet PR’s expanding roster of
clients in economic development,
commercial real estate, architecture
and engineering, helping them shape
narratives that advance business
objectives, promote development and
spotlight impact across communities.
“Dan’s depth of commercial real
estate experience and his ability to
tell stories that connect business
goals to broader community
outcomes make him an ideal fi t
for Violet PR’s mission,” said April
Mason, the fi rm’s president and
founder. “His extensive network and
proven leadership will help drive
our business forward as we continue
to expand our impact across the
economic development and real
estate industries.”
Johnson most recently was an
account director at R&J Strategic
Communications, where he led the
agency’s B2B practice specializing
in commercial real estate, according
to a news release. That included
developing and executing strategies
that raised client visibility and
managing high-profi le milestone
announcements, as well as guiding
community relations efforts and
positioning executives as leading
industry voices.
His recent assignments in commercial
real estate

in Hackensack
and Rivet
Apartments

Square in Jersey City, along with
several medical and residential
properties throughout the region.

Prior to R&J, Johnson held roles with

and most active real estate and
planning organizations, while he
volunteers with ULI’s UrbanPlan
program, a simulated real estate
development curriculum offered in
East Brunswick, East Orange, Morris
County and West Windsor.
The expansion of Violet PR’s
leadership team follows a year of
milestones for the fi rm, which was
named to Inc.’s Best Workplaces list
for its exceptional culture, as well
as the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-
growing privately held companies in
the U.S., the news release said. The
agency has also recently welcomed
national economic development
clients including the Greater
Baltimore Committee, Bermuda
Business Development Agency and
the National Association of Foreign
Trade-Zones.

BUSINESS LEADER
Gilbane Building Co. has a new
leader in its New Jersey offi ce after
promoting John E. Anderson III, a
veteran project manager and member
of its team for more than a decade.
In his role as business leader,
Anderson will focus on expanding
the company’s market portfolio
and service offerings, fostering
team development and growth and
delivering world-class facilities for
clients and communities in the New
Jersey area, according to a news
release. He comes to the post with
an extensive background in health
care, commercial, residential and life
sciences construction, having spent
the last 10 years in Gilbane’s New
York City offi ce.
“As a construction veteran and
longtime Gilbane team member, John
fully embodies the values we look for
in a business leader — he is growth-
oriented, safety obsessed, people-
focused and community-minded,”

Anderson, a sixth-generation member
of the family that has grown Gilbane
over more than 150 years, will be
based in the fi rm’s Newark offi ce.
The company noted that his project
experience includes 50 Hudson Yards,
where he oversaw construction of
the core and shell of a 2.9 million-
square-foot, 58-story offi ce building,
along with the fi rm’s NYCEDC NYC
Health + Hospitals Metropolitan
Hospital Resiliency Project, which
included construction of a new
permanent fl ood mitigation system
and the renovation of the New York
City and New York State Emergency
Management Chempak Room.
All told, Anderson has more than
17 years of experience in the
