OUR ADVANTAGE
With decades of experience servicing the building systems industry, Concord understands and prioritizes our clients’ needs to accomplish their goals in decisive fashion. The engineering industry, while traditional in a lot of ways, is changing rapidly with advances in technology and the way projects are designed and implemented. We constantly communicate with past, present and potential clients and colleagues in our industry to remain relevant and diverse in our knowledge of design as well as implementation of construction projects.
Concord Engineering’s interest in a project starts early with immediate attention to budget, scope and schedule, and
goes well beyond engineering design with our knowledge of construction and building operations. We pride ourselves on the details and understanding the expectations of each project’s team. We are well versed in code-intensive projects such as institutional, assisted living, historic, adaptive-reuse, high-rise, gaming and so on. Not only are codes continually changing but the expectation of an accelerated design is now the norm in our recent experience. We don’t shy away from aggressive schedules nor challenging renovation projects requiring a keen eye for solutions.
Our energy auditing and energy modeling experience has positioned our teams for energy efficient design and confidence when conceptualizing building system selection early in the process. We can assess the feasibility of different systems at the early stages of a project. This gives our clients information to make informed decisions about their capital expenditure, all the while understanding operational and energy consumption, before spending tons of money on design and construction.
After all, we are consultants who are here to provide

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
Concord Engineering Group, Inc. is serving as the Engineer of Record of the new Frank J. Guarini Justice Complex located in Jersey City, NJ. The Justice Complex, totaling over $300M and 405,000 GSF, will include 24 Courtrooms (2 Civil, 10 Criminal and 12 Family), Hearing and Mediation Rooms, Grand Jury, Jury Assembly spaces and a 450-space secure parking garage. Courts Administration, the Hudson County Prosecutor, the Surrogate and the Sheriff’s Department will also have office space in the building.
This project is unique in that it is being designed and built simultaneously in a “design-build” format with the design
and construction team working in unison to accomplish this incredible feat in under 3 years. To add to the complexity, the project is being constructed in four phases in the heart of Jersey City’s very busy Journal Square Community.
Concord’s team has been working tirelessly since the project’s initial RFP process on the design of the mechanical, electrical, fire alarm, fire protection and plumbing systems. The LEED-certified design integrates diverse systems and functionality to address the multiuse building, which includes uses from public gathering areas to judges’ chambers to courtrooms to prisoners’ sally port and secure holding cells. We are proud of our involvement in this monumental and historic project and expect a successful outcome in early 2024.
