Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP has announced the passing of Wendell A. Smith, a prominent, well-respected real estate lawyer and name partner who practiced in the state for more than 50 years.
The Woodbridge-based firm said Tuesday that Smith died April 13, calling him a friend and colleague who was widely recognized as one of New Jersey’s pre-eminent authorities on condominium and community association law. He became a partner with Greenbaum in 1968, part of a career in which he represented developers, lending institutions and hundreds of common interest communities throughout the state.
“Wendell was cherished by his beloved family and by all who had the honor of learning from him and working by his side,” the firm wrote. “His intelligence, warmth and good humor will be deeply missed.”
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Holmdel Funeral Home at 26 South Holmdel Road in Holmdel. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at 112 Middletown Road in Holmdel.
In lieu of flowers, Smith’s family requests that donations be directed to the Holmdel Theatre Company at the Duncan Smith Theater. The details of a public memorial service will be forthcoming.
