A veteran environmental consultant with GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. has become the first to receive a newly created award from the Urban Land Institute’s Northern New Jersey chapter.
Stephanie Turkot, a Fairfield-based project manager with the firm, was among those honored last month at an annual gala highlighting transformational land use developments, best practices and creative visioning. To that end, the chapter presented her with its inaugural Women’s Leadership Award as part of the May 5 ceremony in Woodland Park.
“On behalf of all of her colleagues, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to Stephanie on receiving this prestigious and much-deserved honor from ULI Northern New Jersey,” said
Joseph Galley, a vice president with GZA. “We are proud and excited that she is being recognized for her strong leadership and support for women’s advancement within the land use and development fields.”
Turkot has more than a decade of experience in the environmental industry. With GZA, she has led site investigations, assessments and remedial actions, having worked on multiple brownfield and Superfund sites in New Jersey, New York and other states.
She’s also an active member of and leader with several civic and professional organizations, including ULI, the New Jersey Society of Women Environmental Professionals, the Midwest Energy Association, the Denville Environmental Commission and the Kiwanis Club of Denville, according to a news release. Turkot earned her bachelor’s in environmental science from William Paterson University.
