Hollister Construction Services has completed a new 14,400-square-foot recreational facility for Gill St. Bernard’s School in Gladstone, the construction management firm said Tuesday.
In a news release, Hollister said the new field house will open its doors this month at the school’s 208-acre campus. The facility, which is built from a pre-engineered steel structure, is a multipurpose recreational center and gymnasium that seats about 200 and serves as the main gymnasium for lower and middle school students.
“We are thrilled to open this wonderful new facility on our campus,” said Sid Rowell, head of School at Gill St. Bernard’s School. “Its completion will allow us to now move ahead with the construction of the new performing arts center.”
The building has a multisport practice and game court, new locker rooms, new bathrooms and a new fitness and exercise facility, the Parsippany-based firm said. The project required extensive site work and landscaping, as well as the installation of new utility services required to support the new facility.
It’s also the latest construction project in the education sector for Hollister. The firm’s portfolio includes K-12 private institutions, urban charter schools and higher education institutions throughout the tristate area.
Most recently, the company completed five new charter schools in Newark and Jersey City, the news release said. Hollister also has completed a multiphase renovation for the Pingry School Lower School, an independent day school in Short Hills.
The Hollister team leading this latest project includes Kieran Flanagan, project executive; Brian Lemchak, senior project manager; Michael Nappo, superintendent; Allison Koterba, project coordinator and Frank Caputo, senior estimator. The project was designed by USA Architects with civil design by Dynamic Engineering Consultants.
“As students returned to the Gill St. Bernard’s campus earlier this month, they were pleased to see and experience this remarkable new facility,” said Flanagan, president at Hollister. “The new recreation building is a powerful asset for both Gill St. Bernard and its students, and we were pleased to support the school by bringing this project to completion swiftly and efficiently.”
