Larken Associates has announced a promotion on its residential accounting team as part of a plan to further implement a key technology platform.

Alesha Torres

Alesha Torres, who joined the Branchburg-based firm three years ago, is now a residential accounting manager and Yardi systems administrator. To that end, she will expand her focus on the investment and property management software, ensuring the platform is integrated into the team’s daily workflow through new user onboarding, case management and employee training.

The new role is in addition to her responsibilities as a residential accounting manager, which include supervising the residential property accountants, evaluating the annual performance of staff and implementing and coaching through performance plans as necessary.

“Being able to identify ways to implement the latest platforms and technologies such as Yardi continues to be key in our ability to operate efficiently and profitably,” said Babette Rutman, Larken Associates’ chief financial officer. “We have already taken significant steps to integrate Yardi into our commercial and residential portfolio and Torres’ wealth of knowledge and understanding of that platform will be critical as we continue to grow our portfolio in the years to come. We congratulate Alesha on her new role and are confident she will continue to be an invaluable member of our team in the years ahead.”

Larken promoted Torres from property accountant to residential accounting manager in 2021, the firm said, noting that she recently earned her Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor certification. Prior to joining the company, Torres gained experience as a bookkeeper for Integra Management Corp., where she processed millions of dollars in receivables for more than100 properties.

Torres’ career began in her previous roles as office manager and bookkeeper for Amori & Riegel LLC and accounting specialist for Nestle’s Dryer’s Ice Cream, where she reviewed and processed $10 million in monthly company sales.
