The owner of a South Plainfield shopping center has welcomed a specialty grocer and a Mexican restaurant after a pair of leases totaling nearly 18,000 square feet.
According to Levin Management Corp., the leasing and managing agent for Clinton Corners, the deals include a 15,800-square-foot commitment by the newly opened Tropical Supermarket. Meantime, Blue Habanero is taking 2,145 square feet at the 30,300-square-foot center, which is located at 1225 West 7th St. and some three miles from Route 22.
LMC Senior Leasing Representative Vanessa Kelty represented ownership in both deals, while Diomaris Rosado of Keller Williams Premier represented Blue Habanero in the latter.
“Blue Habanero and Tropical Supermarket are wonderful additions to the tenant mix that will attract even more customers to Clinton Corners,” Kelty said. “Grocery is a significant element for any shopping center, and Tropical Supermarket is a perfect match both for this neighborhood and Clinton Corners. And with the continued impressive performance of fast-casual dining, we are excited to bring a Blue Habanero to the property.”
In announcing the deals, LMC noted that Blue Habanero serves fresh, authentic Mexican dishes including tacos, nachos, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos and more, along with natural drinks and desserts. The new Clinton Corners shop marks the brand’s third area location, joining existing restaurants in Perth Amboy and Neptune City, under the guidance of an experienced restaurateur with more than 20 years in the industry.
LMC added that Tropical Supermarket, which has a Hispanic flair, had a soft launch in mid-October and is slated for a formal grand opening in early November. It is the second location for the grocer, which has operated at the LMC-leased and -managed Hamilton Street Center in Franklin Township for nearly 15 years.
Clinton Corners is also home to a Burger King and other businesses such as a Chinese restaurant, a beauty supply store, a pharmacy, a nail salon and a laundromat, LMC said. The center serves a growing residential population of more than 139,000 people with an average household income of $126,000 within a three-mile radius.
