The newest Urby luxury apartment building has arrived in Jersey City with the debut of a 25-story, 317-unit property in the resurgent Journal Square neighborhood.
Located at 532 Summit Ave., the tower has hit the market with floorplans ranging from studios to three-bedroom homes and monthly rents starting from the $2,800s, according to a news release. Its developer hopes to lure residents with the brand’s distinctive design and public spaces, as well as a location directly across from the Journal Square PATH station.
The building is the seventh Urby property to open nationwide and the second in Jersey City, coming seven years after the completion of the first project in the city’s Harborside district.
“Journal Square Urby offers a lifestyle centered on culture, comfort and connection,” said David Barry, founder and CEO of Urby. “We’re excited to welcome new residents to the heart of Jersey City’s vibrant Journal Square neighborhood.”
The developer on Monday touted highlights such as a public café integrated into the lobby that is slated to open later this year, plus a vast fitness center with an adjoining yoga studio that hosts regular classes for residents. Other amenities include a heated rooftop pool, a roof with grilling areas, a parlor for private events, a range of work-from-home spaces and a dog park.
Several of those spaces, plus many of the apartments, provide panoramic views spanning downtown Jersey City, the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the news release said. Renters, meantime, are steps from the retail, cultural and culinary offerings of Journal Square, where developers have built thousands of new apartments in recent years.
Concrete, the acclaimed Dutch firm behind citizenM Hotels, designed Journal Square Urby, with HLW serving as the executive architect. Barry’s team noted that the tower has three distinct masses that complement the scale of the surrounding neighborhood, while pointing to the new 25-story mural on the side of the building by artist Felipe Pantone.
Journal Square Urby also offers furnished apartments for flexible term stays of 28 days or longer.
