The STRO Cos. has leased nearly 12,000 square feet at a Union Township industrial building to a nonprofit focused on addressing global hunger.
According to the landlord, Rise Against Hunger is relocating its New Jersey warehouse to the 11,500-square-foot property at 60 Milltown Road, which sits just north of Route 22. The new space will provide the organization with clear ceiling heights of more than 16 feet, two loading docks and easy access to Interstate 78 and the Garden State Parkway, serving as a warehouse facility and packaging hub for its partners.
“We are pleased to welcome Rise Against Hunger to our building and look forward to a long-term relationship with their organization,” said Elliot Ferris, STRO’s director of leasing. “The location was ideal for them to expand their operation and continue providing global hunger relief. This was a transaction we are proud to have been involved with.”
Cushman & Wakefield’s Tim Farley represented Rise Against Hunger, while Joel Tomlinson of Silbert Realty and Management Co. represented STRO.
“To address immediate nutritional needs of people facing hunger globally, businesses, churches, civic organizations and other groups join us in packaging nutritious meals that are then shipped around the world,” said Mickey Horner, Rise Against Hunger’s director of global operations. “This new warehouse location leased from STRO Companies will be crucial to this work by enabling us to safely store our supplies and meals as well as be a central hub to ensure we can effectively and efficiently reach groups packaging with us in the New York metro area.”
Farley added: “Cushman & Wakefield has helped Rise Against Hunger manage their real estate portfolio for close to 15 years now and is proud to partner with Rise Against Hunger in their efforts to end hunger in our lifetime.”
Silbert’s Tomlinson noted that, given the nonprofit’s work, the firm was “proud to be involved in this transaction and (wishes) continued success to Rise Against Hunger in addressing global hunger within its new location.”
“It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Elliot Ferris and other professionals within The STRO Companies as well as tenant representatives at Cushman & Wakefield’s team,” Tomlinson said.
