Furniture chain Ethan Allen has signed a new lease with Urban Edge Properties, with plans to open a store and showroom at a Route 22 shopping center in Watchung.
In a news release, Urban Edge said the retailer has taken 4,321 square feet at its Greenbrook Commons property at 1601 Route 22 West. The tenant will occupy a pad site that was home to a Chase branch, joining a roster at the 169,758-square-foot center that includes Aldi, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Buffalo Wild Wings and The Vitamin Shoppe, among others.
“This is the first Ethan Allen store in the Urban Edge portfolio, and we are excited to welcome them to this prime location,” said Justin Lustig, vice president of leasing for the real estate investment trust. “We look forward to fostering a strong relationship and exploring future opportunities at our shopping centers. The store’s relocation from a nearby site will attract its loyal customer base to our center, helping to enhance our merchandising mix.”
Jeffery Realty’s William Farkas and Mike Testa represented Urban Edge in the deal, while Ethan Allen worked with Neil Goldstein and Mark Handwerker of The Goldstein Group. The REIT noted that Greenbrook Commons serves the densely populated communities of Berkeley Heights and Plainfield as well as parts of Scotch Plains, Warren and Gillette.
