Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia has leased nearly 20,000 square feet for a new store in Toms River, in a deal arranged by Vantage Commercial.
Leor Hemo, the brokerage firm’s CEO and president, worked closely with Goodwill to complete the long-term deal at Fischer Plaza at 1001 Fischer Blvd. He said the new 19,776-square-foot space is slated to open this summer, supporting the nonprofit’s mission by providing a convenient place to donate unwanted items and shop for treasures.
According to Goodwill Chief Operating Officer Michael Shaw, the organization is broadening its reach in Ocean County in response to local demand.
“Currently, we operate one standalone donation site in Toms River and another location in Bayville as well as a Career Opportunity Center,” he said.
Goodwill’s large-scale collection and resale of donated items through its retail stores serve as a critical funding source for programs including job training and career services to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment, as well as the Helms Academy, offering a tuition-free pathway for adults 18 and older to earn their high school diplomas college credits simultaneously. Additionally, the organization plays a key role in supporting the region’s sustainability efforts by promoting recycling through the resale of donated goods.
