Saxum Real Estate has named two new principals as the company continues to expand its team and its geographic footprint.
According to the Summit-based investment and development firm, the new partners include Matt Wassel, who joined its team in 2018 as director of leasing. Also rising to principal is Kieran Flanagan, who started with the firm in 2016 as its director of construction.
Since joining Saxum, Wassel has built a leasing team and completed transactions totaling more than 2 million square feet, according to a news release. He has become a critical voice in the firm’s long-term growth, leasing, asset management and strategic planning, while he was responsible for opening its office in Austin, Texas, in 2020.
As a newly promoted principal, Wassel will continue to lead Saxum’s growing leasing team to execute on its multiple investment strategies.
“Matt is a quintessential team player who immediately added value from day one across Saxum’s verticals,” said Anthony Rinaldi, the firm’s founder and managing principal. “His diverse skillset, coupled with his excellent work ethic and incredible professionalism makes him a truly unique leader.
“Through his determination and grit Matt has consistently executed on leasing the firm’s portfolio, even though the most challenging of circumstances. Matt has been a critical leader of the firm we are grateful for his leadership, dedication and stewardship of the firm’s values and vision. We are honored to have him continue his partnership as a principal of the firm.”
Flanagan, meantime, has overseen more than 4 million square feet of construction and development across Saxum’s fast-growing portfolio. With more than 30 years of construction experience across multiple asset classes, he has expanded his team of construction professionals while completing dozens of projects throughout the country.
As a principal, Flanagan will continue to lead Saxum’s construction efforts across the country while also building and expanding its ability to continuously meet and exceed its growth expectations nationwide.
“Kieran’s vast construction experience has proved invaluable to the growth of the firm, especially over the last 24 months, which have been one of the most challenging construction environments in recent history,” Rinaldi said. “Through his incredible experience and ability to lead with determination and focus, making countless critical decisions along the way, Kieran and his team have consistently delivered our most challenging projects.
“We are extremely grateful for Kieran’s partnership, leadership and dedication and are honored to have him continue to lead as a principal of the firm.”
