The Burlington City school district has sold a nearly 14,000-square-foot facility, in a transaction arranged by Wolf Commercial Real Estate.
The brokerage firm represented the city’s board of education in the sale of 234 West Pearl St., a former elementary school measuring 13,386 square feet. A private school operator known as Doane Academy acquired the facility, which has eight classrooms, a large cafeteria, an all-purpose room, administrative offices and other spaces.
WCRE Vice President and Principal Christopher Henderson completed the sale, touting the building’s location just over the Burlington Bristol Bridge from Philadelphia minutes and from Route 130 and Interstate 295. He also represented the buyer.
Doane Academy, a coeducational, independent day school for pre-K through 12th grade, is located across the street from the former city school and will use the facility as expansion space for its growing student population. The property has a large outdoor play area and kitchen, WCRE said, adding that the sale also included the lot across the street.
