A top neurosurgery practice has taken more than 16,000 square feet at a well-known office building in Paramus, brokers with Cresa New Jersey announced Wednesday.
According to the leasing team, New Jersey Brain and Spine will occupy its space at 650 From Road starting in January, when it will relocate from a 13,559-square-foot office at 2 University Place in Hackensack. Its move to the 348,510-square-foot building off the Garden State Parkway comes under a deal with Onyx Equities, which has transformed the once-outdated property with new lobbies and common areas, a full-service food hall, a modern conference center and indoor and outdoor employee lounge areas.
Cresa New Jersey managing principals Jonathan Marks and Dennis Gralla represented New Jersey Brain and Spine in the 16,222-square-foot lease, touting its client as the No. 1 ranked neurosurgery practice in the state and No. 5 in the country. Cushman & Wakefield’s Ben Brenner, David DeMatteis and Mark Zaziski represented ownership.
Meantime, Bill Kimmerle of Kimmerle Newman Architects is designing the space, with Cresa Project Manager Justin Eagle and New Jersey Brain and Spine’s Jeanmarie Falco overseeing the project. Three 17 Construction will serve as the general contractor.
“Operationally and geographically, this is a terrific move for us,” New Jersey Brain and Spine’s Dr. Hooman Azmi said. “Our new space allows us to continue our mission of providing top-tier neurosurgical care with the utmost convenience for our patients.”
Dr. Reza Karimi, also a member of the practice, added: “Our needs were very specific so it’s exciting to have found a new location that not only meets those requirements, but also enhances our ability to provide better care for our patients.”
In announcing the deal, Cresa noted that 650 From Road is the largest Class A office property in Paramus. Onyx’s $10 million update of the five-story building has helped create a hub for health care services with the recent additions of Hackensack Meridian Health and ENT Allergy Associates.
Tenants are minutes from Bergen County hospitals, just off East Ridgewood Ave. and easily accessible from the Parkway and Route 17. They also have quick access to hotels, major shopping destinations like Paramus Park Mall, golf courses and a host of restaurants in Paramus and nearby Ridgewood.
“This complex disposition and relocation is a pivotal step for New Jersey Brain and Spine’s continued growth and success,” Marks said. “This upgraded space at 650 From Road offers the perfect combination of a premier medical environment and accessibility to key medical institutions in Bergen County. The practice is well positioned to provide patients with state-of-the-art care for years to come.”
