Woodmont Properties has broken ground on a project that will bring 300 new luxury apartments to a site less than a mile from the Metropark train station in Woodbridge.
Located at 186 Wood Ave., the six-story property will have a mix of homes ranging from 574-square-foot studios to three-bedroom units spanning more than 1,400 square feet, according to a news release. Residents will also have access to 23,000 square feet of amenity spaces, plus the benefit of being within walking distance of one of the state’s busiest train stations with service by both NJ Transit and Amtrak.
Completion for the project, designed by Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, is slated for 2028.
“Breaking ground on Woodmont Rail at Metropark, our most recent transit-oriented community, marks an exciting milestone for Woodmont and a meaningful investment in the future of Woodbridge,” said Stephen Santola, Woodmont’s executive vice president and general counsel. “This community, located a short walk from the Metropark Train Station, will infuse new energy into one of the region’s key transit hubs while generating hundreds of construction jobs and long-term employment opportunities. We’re proud to celebrate this pivotal moment and are deeply grateful to the Township of Woodbridge for its partnership in rethinking areas in and around the Metropark commercial area.”
Amenities will include a high-end fitness center, a multisport simulator, a clubroom and a media room, along with options for hybrid or remote professionals such as conference rooms and a coworking center, the news release said. Outside, residents will have access to a resort-style pool, fire pits and dining areas, plus a rooftop space with a grill, an outdoor TV and a shaded bar.
They’ll also be surrounded by the major employers that occupy Metropark’s vast collection of office buildings, including EY, Prudential Financial, UnitedHealthcare, BASF Corp. and Wells Fargo. The property, meantime, is just off the Garden State Parkway, Route 1, Route 27 and the New Jersey Turnpike, providing easy access to Newark, New York City and other major destinations, as well as retail, hotels and recreation.
