RWJBarnabas Health has signed two new leases that will provide it with additional space in Union and Essex counties, brokers with Avison Young announced Tuesday.

According to the agents, the deals include a 26,377-square foot commitment at 630 Central Ave. in New Providence that will serve as a training location for the provider’s northern New Jersey staff. The second, at 315 Northfield Ave. in Livingston, will serve as additional space for its Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.

Avison Young Principal Roshan Shah,  Senior Vice President Steven Geltzeiler and Principal Todd Ohlandt represented RWJBH. Newmark’s Dan Reider represented the landlord in New Providence, 2100 New Providence LLC.

“As the single-largest health care provider in New Jersey and among the biggest health systems in the nation, we are incredibly fortunate to have these opportunities to partner with RWJBarnabas Health on evaluating and implementing the organization’s corporate real estate strategy across their vast portfolio,” Shah said.

The Avison Young team, in conjunction with the firm’s consulting practice, said it was also working on a comprehensive consulting assignment for RWJBH as the health care system explores creating greater efficiencies among their larger facilities throughout the region.

“Health care remains a top priority for many of us as we return to a more normal way of life, and through these newly leased spaces, RWJBH has the capacity to train and deliver the experienced professionals northern New Jersey communities rely on,” Geltzeiler said.

“We’re thankful to Avison Young for their deep real estate expertise, including specifically with healthcare organizations, and for delivering favorable real estate outcomes for RWJBarnabas Health,” said Steve Barry, executive president of facilities management and real estate development, RWJBH. “Partnering with Roshan, Steve and Todd at Avison Young has been immensely valuable.”
