Walters is set to welcome the first residents to a new development that will bring 150 units of age-restricted housing to Branchburg, the developer announced Monday.
Known as Cornerstone at Branchburg, the complex at 1000 Cornerstone Drive consists of two three-story buildings sitting on 11.7 acres along Route 202. Walters on Monday said residents will move into the first building starting this month, while construction on the second building continues ahead of a planned spring delivery.
“We look forward to welcoming our first residents into their energy-efficient homes which will provide a healthy and affordable living environment with long-term savings on heating and cooling costs as well as improved indoor air quality,” said Joseph Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Barnegat-based Walters. He noted that Cornerstone at Branchburg, which broke ground in May 2021, is designed to attain certification on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Scale and with ENERGY STAR.
Reserved for residents age 55 and older, the property will have a mix of one- and two-bedroom floorplans ranging from about 700 to 900 square feet, according to a news release. Amenities will include a modern fitness center, computer workstations, a pool table and outdoor areas with gas grills, while a staffed social services coordinator will be available upon request.
Walters added that income-restricted housing is open to those with incomes at or below 60 percent of the area median income. Rental rates are based on the renter’s gross annual income, according to the rent and income requirements chart.
