PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
When PREMIER was tapped for a New Jersey project on an abandoned manufacturing site, the team discovered significant topographical and environmental challenges. The original concept for the site included a large number of retaining walls. PREMIER’s new plan shifted building and road locations to reduce the need for retaining walls. The team tackled other key site challenges, managing deep dynamic compaction (DDC) of former waste disposal areas, overseeing deep drilling and grouting of underlying bedrock, and designing an embankment to dam standards. The team also devised a clever design solution to split a detention pond to avoid the impact and delays associated with relocating high voltage transmission lines on the property. PREMIER’s solutions resulted in a savings of several million dollars for the developer. In addition, PREMIER was able to maintain an aggressive schedule despite the numerous challenges.
