DEVELOPER BREAKS GROUND ON FIRST
OF TWO APARTMENT TOWERS
at a later date.
The project also will feature a structured parking garage, a first for West New York, under a partnership between the developer and the municipality.
“On the campaign trail two years ago, the number one issue was lack of parking in this municipality,” West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez said during a groundbreaking ceremony. “We are the most densely populated place in the nation, which translates into lack of parking. We are delighted with what is happening here. This is a perfect example of a public-private partnership working for the betterment of the people who live here.”
In a news release, NRIA noted that the garage will be accessible to both residents of the towers and the surrounding population. The structure will contain 495 parking spaces, 60 percent of which will be available to the public.
U.S. Rep. Albio Sires, a former mayor of West New York, noted that efforts to expand parking access in the town go back years.
“This is a project that will benefit the
entire community,” Sires said, “and we are very excited for that. It is one of the most important potential economic multipliers of this area.”
Residents of The Grand and The Metro will have access to high-end amenities, including a gym, a lounge and a green roof with a walking deck, along with rooftop patio seating and grills. Plans also call for a business center with WiFi access and other resources for remote workers.
Public officials and Richard Stabile, NRIA’s senior vice president of new acquisitions, also cited the property’s access to mass transit and to the vast number of restaurants, stores and entertainment options within walking distance of the site.
“The Grand and the Metro are ambitious, forward-thinking
housing developments that are
sure to continue West New York’s renaissance,” U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez said. “This apartment complex is exactly what I mean when I talk about transit-oriented development.
I congratulate all involved in making this groundbreaking possible.”
Construction on The Grand and The Metro is slated for completion in summer 2023.
Construction is underway on the first of two towers that will make up a new 312-unit apartment complex in the Hudson County town of West New York.
National Realty Investment Advisors, a Secaucus-based developer,
announced Aug. 9 that it has broken ground on the 14-story building known as The Grand, which will occupy a parcel at 508 51st St. The structure will contain 156 units, as will a sister tower known as The Metro that is slated to break ground

BAYONNE: LEG EYES START OF 886,000 SQ. FT. UPS FACILITY AFTER IMPLOSION
Lincoln Equities Group has completed its demolition of two historic, bomb-proof buildings in Bayonne, paving the way for the construction of a massive new distribution center for UPS.
The firm said the pair of six-story, 1.5 million-square-foot structures, which date back to the 1940s, were the last remaining buildings at its 153-acre waterfront development site in the city. That’s no longer the case, following an implosion in early August that marked the culmination of three years of site preparation.
LEG will now turn its focus to building the facility for UPS, which agreed earlier this year to lease 886,256 square feet at what’s known as Lincoln Logistics Bayonne.
“Since purchasing the massive site in 2018, our crews have worked steadily to ready it for construction, which involved importing over one million tons of clean fill to raise the site out of the flood plain and demolishing multiple former U.S. military buildings,” LEG President Joel Bergstein said. “Now, construction
can begin on the 1.4-million-square- foot logistics complex that will create thousands of jobs and play a vital role in expanding the local overall economy.”
UPS will anchor the complex, which is part
of the Military

property.
According
to LEG, the
regional hub
and package
distribution
center is slated to be complete by 2023, creating more than 1,000 jobs.
“We’re excited for the opportunity and growth that this project will bring to the people of Bayonne and the state of New Jersey,” Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis said. “Lincoln Logistics Bayonne will enable our city to serve as a major focal point for shipping, logistics, supply chain and innovation, and this implosion is the final step before construction begins.”
