other spaces.
Additionally, Taylor noted that one of the 11-story buildings would include a rooftop restaurant, while the other would feature a rooftop café. Each will be available to the public.
The design firm credited a project team that includes redevelopment attorney Robert Goldsmith of Greenbaum Rowe Smith & Davis LLP, land use attorney John Sullivan, civil engineer Lee Titus and traffic engineer Betsy Dolan.
Local officials have granted a key approval to a four-building project that would bring more than 350 apartments and commercial space to the edge of downtown Plainfield.
According to a team with Taylor Architecture & Design, the project at West Front Street and Central Avenue will include 357 residential units and some 34,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space. Elsewhere on the site, plans call for 32,200 square feet of commercial space, including two rooftop restaurants, along with 354 on-site parking spaces.
The project by TODD West Urban Renewal LLC is moving ahead after securing unanimous approval in mid- August from the city’s planning board.
“Much of the recent development in the city has been along its eastern South Avenue (and) North Avenue corridors,” Taylor Architecture, which
is based in nearby North Plainfield, wrote in its announcement. “This development serves at a gateway to Plainfield on its western end along West Front Street, essentially the entrance to the heart
BUILDER ACQUIRES HACKENSACK PARCELS APPROVED FOR 224 UNITS
A construction firm has closed on
four adjacent parcels in downtown Hackensack, having secured approvals to build 224 new apartments with ground-floor retail space.
According to NAI James E. Hanson, which brokered the sale, the properties at 89, 93, 95 and 107-109 Anderson St. are in the heart of the city’s redevelopment zone. They include two vacant freestanding buildings of 5,500 and 2,244 square feet, offering proximity to the Anderson Street train station and Hackensack’s central business district.
The properties also sit within a federally designated Opportunity Zone, meaning they could be eligible for favorable tax treatment if the 60,000-square-foot project comes to fruition.
“The sale and proposed redevelopment of this space is just one of many projects happening throughout Hackensack right now,” NAI Hanson Vice President Anthony Cassano said. “Hackensack is in the midst of an exciting renaissance that has already
seen over 3,500 modern apartment units built and

a news release. The architect said it’s slated to include two 11-story buildings, one five-story building and one four-story building, featuring a mix of studio, one- bedroom and two- bedroom floorplans.

our knowledge and expertise of the northern New Jersey market to help move this project forward and drive continued investment in Hackensack’s revival.”
Cassano represented both parties in the sale, the terms of which were not disclosed. The buyer, Anderson Street Urban Renewal LLC, is an affiliate
of McGowan Builders, which has built millions of square feet since its founding in 2001 and has also secured local approval for the four lots to be assembled into one development site.
According to NAI Hanson, plans include 4,000 square feet of ground- floor retail space.
