A longtime business owner and member of the state’s facilities and leasing team has joined NAI Mertz as a director for the office division, the Mount Laurel-based firm said Tuesday.
In a news release, the company said Carmelo Costantino brings more than 30 years of experience in the commercial construction industry and in managing private- and public-sector projects ranging from $1 million to $500 million in value. Among other posts, he has served as a senior executive district manager of office leasing and lease compliance services with the state’s Office of Legislative Services, where he was responsible for creating, managing and evaluating initiatives, operating standards and procedures of the district office program.
During his tenure there, Costantino was responsible for procuring and managing 180,000 square feet of commercial office space in 40 legislative districts throughout the state, while managing a $6 million annual budget to ensure each district office was fiscally accountable and met legislative guidelines.
“We are pleased to welcome Carmelo to our team of professionals at NAI Mertz,” said Bobbi Jean Formosa, the firm’s chief operating officer. “Carmelo is a seasoned negotiator and adept at competitive bidding, project buyout and value engineering. He is uniquely experienced in all facets of construction, building maintenance, commercial leasing, lease compliance and facilities and property oversight. We look forward to his contributions.”
Costantino studied construction management at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia, the news release said. He is a licensed real estate salesperson in New Jersey and is an aide for the State Leasing and Space Utilization Committee.
