Local leaders with the U.S. Green Building Council gathered last week to honor dozens of projects, firms and individuals that are advancing sustainability in New Jersey, as the chapter hosted its first in-person awards gala in more than three years.
The event, held Dec. 1 at Antique Loft in downtown Hoboken, drew a mix of developers, service professionals and public officials for a program that highlighted everything from offshore wind to LG Electronics’ new North American headquarters in Englewood Cliffs. Speakers included Rhiannon Jacobsen, managing director of U.S. market transformation and development with the U.S. Green Building Council, along with Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla and Jennifer Gonzalez, the city’s director of environmental services and chief sustainability officer.
“It is great to join the USGBC New Jersey community for their return to an in-person gala,” Jacobsen said. “Tonight’s celebration will recognize some great projects and spotlight the people innovating the built environment. USGBC New Jersey has served as a catalyst for sustainability-minded individuals to build healthy and sustainable spaces. These awards exemplify how LEED can be used for any type of building or project — from homes to commercial buildings to schools — and the impact they can have on communities.”
