Business leaders will descend on New Jersey’s largest city in less than a month as the Newark Summit for Real Estate, Economic Development & Placemaking returns for a third year.
Slated for Feb. 9, the event is slated to draw more than 1,250 attendees to 550 Broad St. as part of a daylong forum showcasing the region’s top investors, anchor institutions, developers,
occupiers, owners, nonprofits and elected officials from across the region. Chief among them will be Mayor Ras Baraka, who will once again keynote the program with a fireside chat moderated by Genova Burns Chairman Angelo Genova, along with dozens of well-known speakers who will take part in a wide range of panels and presentations.
The Newark Alliance and Prudential Financial serve as co-chairs for this year’s conference, with Invest Newark serving as presenting partner and The Fidelco Group as venue partner.
“As the Newark Summit enters its third year, it’s an exciting time to convene and discuss the
programs, initiatives, developments and opportunities shaping Newark’s continued rise as a
premier destination,” said Evan Weiss, CEO and president of the Newark Alliance. “Supporting this annual event reinforces the collaboration across the public and private sectors that is driving
Newark forward.”
Marcus Randolph, CEO and president of Invest Newark, added: “Newark continues to be a hub of growth and opportunity, with businesses and retailers of all sizes driving the city’s momentum.
Events like the Newark Summit highlight the innovation and resilience of our business community, and Invest Newark is proud to partner with entrepreneurs, retailers, developers and other local businesses, providing resources, guidance and connections that help them thrive.”
According to roundtable&advisory, the highly regarded organizer of the Newark Summit and Jersey City Summit, this year’s program will highlight the many projects, initiatives and partnerships helping to innovate and grow Newark. Much of that will come by way of the event’s many panel discussions, which will cover everything from arts and retail to affordable housing and capital markets.
The day begins with a breakfast reception at 7:30 a.m., followed by welcome remarks at 8:15 a.m. and the first panel discussion shortly thereafter.
“As an anchor institution in Newark for more than 150 years, Prudential is committed to taking action to strengthen the city’s vibrancy and resilience,” said Lata Reddy, senior vice president of inclusive solutions at Prudential Financial and chair of The Prudential Foundation. “By sponsoring events such as The Newark Summit, we’re helping to spark ideas that catalyze economic growth and investment and shape Newark’s future for generations to come.”
Organizers noted that the program will take place across the 16th and 17th floors at 550 Broad, providing views of the New York City skyline and downtown Newark.
“550 Broad and Fidelco are proud to host The Newark Summit,” said Kerri B. Levine, principal of The Fidelco Group. “As a longtime partner in Newark’s growth and stakeholder in the downtown, we see this event as a natural reflection of our commitment to the city and the collaborative spirit that drives it forward. 550 Broad is a place where foundations, startups, corporations, innovators and community leaders come together, and we’re delighted to support the conversations and connections that strengthen Newark’s future.”
