TFE Properties has acquired a vacant boardwalk property in Ocean Grove that it now hopes to revitalize with a new 40,000-square-foot pavilion and community destination.
The firm, which is based in East Windsor, said the tract at 4 Boardwalk was once home to Dune’s Boardwalk Café and other beloved small businesses. But a 2019 fire destroyed the site, leaving it empty despite its prominent and meaningful location in the town.
TFE said it aimed to honor the property’s history as part of a new pavilion that would serve residents and visitors, although it did not disclose additional details this week.
“This acquisition represents an important milestone for TFE,” said Carey Tajfel, the firm’s president. “Ocean Grove’s boardwalk is iconic, and we are honored to invest in a property that holds both historic significance and meaningful potential for the community. We look forward to contributing thoughtfully to the continued vitality of the shoreline.”
Located in a popular coastal corridor, 4 Boardwalk is steps from neighboring Asbury Park and its historic attractions. It’s also close to Ocean Grove’s vibrant town center known for its shops, restaurants and year-round community events.
TFE said the seaside destination, with its Victorian architecture and charming character, continues to attract visitors and residents seeking a distinctive coastal experience.
