Amicus Therapeutics has unveiled its new global headquarters in downtown Princeton, where it occupies more than 27,000 square feet of office space designed by Ware Malcomb.
Located in the town’s Palmer Square district, the location is a block from Princeton University and spans the fourth and fifth floors of 47 Hulfish St., according to a news release. The global design firm touted the space as open, contemporary and sophisticated but designed with a neighborhood concept, with an interior that emphasized the creation of a common core and cohesive elements that promote connectivity between the flexible office areas that surround it.
Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture and design services on behalf of Amicus, a global, patient-dedicated biotechnology company focused on discovering, developing and delivering high-quality medicines for people living with rare diseases.
“We focused on creating a space that built upon Princeton’s community feel, as well as addressing Amicus’ desire for flexible workspaces and convenient amenities,” said Marlyn Zucosky, a regional director with Ware Malcomb. “Our team designed an interior to not only meet the employees’ functional needs but also enrich their overall experience, focusing on creating a sense of belonging and inspiration.”

Sweetwater Construction Corp. served as general contractor for the 27,200-square-foot project, which created large angled baffled designs with integrated lighting, strategically employed as acoustical elements, while also guiding and seamlessly blending transitions between spaces. Ware Malcomb also sought to cater to various work styles and promote collaboration, creativity and wellbeing, incorporating agile work environments such as enclosed meeting rooms that double as offices and larger meeting rooms with movable walls to provide flexibility to the preferred use.
Additionally, ceilings were extended beyond enclosed spaces to the adjacent collaboration areas, which maximized square footage usage and created a sense of openness and unity, the news release said. The team, meanwhile, said it incorporated branded storytelling graphics into the boardroom area, unassigned mobile workstations and collaboration areas that is meant to create moments of inspiration by highlighting the patient’s journey and underscoring the interconnectedness between corporate objectives and the human element.
