Avison Young has promoted three members of its project management team to the level of principal in its New Jersey office, the real estate services firm announced Friday.

The promotions for Tracey Kasper, John Mercurio, and Gabe Sasso come amid rapid growth for the project management division, Avison Young said. The team, led by Edward S. Walsh and Thomas J. Walsh, was launched in 2012 and provides development, site engineering, project management and construction management services.
The firm said that Kasper, Mercurio and Sasso have each played a critical role in the expansion as it continues to oversee new and existing projects throughout the region.
“We are pleased to announce these strategic and well-deserved promotions,” Tom Walsh said in a prepared statement. “Tracey, John and Gabe have all made significant contributions to the expansion of the Avison Young New Jersey Project Management team and their accomplishments exemplify the firm’s unique culture of collaboration and client servicing excellence.”

Kasper, who provides support to the firm’s Project Management Affinity Group, joined The Walsh Co. in 2006 prior to its acquisition by Avison Young in 2012. Mercurio also joined Walsh in 2006 and currently serves as vice president, construction, at Avison Young, having generated significant construction and project management revenue for the firm.
Sasso joined Avison Young in 2013 after working for Gale Construction for the prior 22 years, according to a news release. He led the preconstruction and construction efforts for both development and third-party projects.

The team’s projects include the MC Hotel in Montclair, a new eight-story, 151-room hotel for which Mercurio serves as principal-in-charge. Sasso, meantime, is the principal-in-charge of a major project for the United States Golf Association, which includes a complete renovation of its 100,000-square-foot administration building in Far Hills and a 40,000-square-foot addition.
“The growth of our project and construction management operations in such a short period of time is due in large part to the work and leadership of these outstanding professionals,” Ed Walsh said. “We expect to maintain our aggressive growth plans in the coming years thanks to the foundation all three helped establish and we look forward to the continued impact they will have as we further enhance our platform and expand our reach.”
