National law firm Baker Donelson has named Andrew Kaplan, a shareholder in its new Princeton office, as co-chair of the firm’s real estate group.
According to a news release, Kaplan will serve in the leadership role while maintaining a practice focused on commercial real estate transactions, multifamily deals, secured lending and corporate matters. He has worked with clients in industries ranging from food producers and fast-casual restaurant brands to emerging companies, apartment building owners, developers, health care providers, hospitals, ambulatory care centers, outpatient facilities and medical office building owners and operators.
Kaplan will serve alongside Jeffrey M. Pomeroy, who has led the real estate group since 2024 and will continue serving as co-chair.
“Andrew has built a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic region for his work in commercial real estate transactions, development projects, financings and complex deal structuring,” Baker Donelson Chair and CEO Timothy M. Lupinacci said. “He is widely respected for fostering collaboration among attorneys and leading client teams with efficiency, clarity and professionalism, and his breadth of experience, along with Jeff’s continued leadership, positions us well to meet evolving market opportunities and client needs.”
The firm, which opened the Princeton office last April, said Kaplan has particular experience advising borrowers in senior secured and unsecured credit facilities, first- and second-lien transactions, syndicated and bilateral financings, mezzanine financings, mortgage loans and cash-flow, asset-based and split-lien transactions. He advises clients in negotiating and structuring mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, financing transactions and commercial real estate matters, as well as general business organization and contract issues.
“I am honored to serve as co-chair of the Real Estate Group alongside Jeff as we continue to grow and build on the Group’s strong foundation,” Kaplan said. “Our attorneys bring significant experience across the full lifecycle of real estate transactions, and I look forward to working together to expand our platform, strengthen client relationships and guide the group through the next phase of its development.”
Kaplan holds his juris doctor from Rutgers University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College, the news release said. He was previously listed in New Jersey Rising Stars by Super Lawyers for Business/Corporate, and he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law since 2024.
