A developer has debuted 90 loft-style apartments in Bayonne, marking the latest building to open in the city’s growing luxury residential pipeline.
The local builder, Skye Development LLC, welcomed city officials and others last week to unveil the property known as Skye Lofts South. Leasing is now underway at the six-story building, located at 250 Avenue E, offering one- and two-bedroom units with rents starting at $1,890.
“Bayonne has long been on the cusp of becoming the next Gold Coast hotspot,” said Mitchell Burakovsky, president of Skye Development. “While it’s located adjacent to Jersey City, it offers a quieter, less-densely developed residential setting than its northern neighbor, yet still provides a walkable downtown with shops, dining, nightlife and services.

A crowd that included Skye Development principals, Bayonne Mayor James M. Davis and other municipal officials marked the building’s opening last week with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. The event showcased the property’s location steps from the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail’s 22nd Street station, which offers service to neighboring Jersey City and Hoboken.
Skye Development has tapped The Marketing Directors as its marketing and leasing agent.
“Our location next to the 22nd Street Light Rail Station also enables residents to conveniently access Jersey City, Hoboken and Manhattan via reliable public transportation,” Burakovsky added. “Skye Lofts South takes full advantage of this location with a modern lifestyle offering at attractive prices that we believe will resonate with today’s renter.”
Designed by DAL Design Group, the building features an exterior with a mixed brick and panel façade with stucco accents. Its loft-style apartments boast high-end finishes, appliances and fixtures.
“Residents at Skye Lofts South will also enjoy a private suite of recreational and social amenities that includes a lobby lounge, resident-only lounge, fitness center, bike storage, private storage and available enclosed parking,” said Jacqueline Urgo, president of The Marketing Directors. “It’s a compelling offering that will appeal to local residents, as well as those considering other markets such as Jersey City, Hoboken and Harrison.”
Skye Lofts South is about three blocks from Route 440, while also offering easy access to the local retail and dining offerings of Bayonne’s Broadway corridor.
