A new driving range has opened outside the sprawling Bell Works complex in Holmdel, bringing another amenity to the property’s workers and patrons and to local residents.
Currently open seven days a week, the Swing Loose Golf Driving Range has 30 stalls and 300 yards of open space positioned directly behind the 2 million-square-foot building. The business debuted Sept. 10, joining the existing Swing Loose Indoor Golf facility as part of the growing list of recreation and entertainment-focused activities.
“At Bell Works New Jersey, we offer a dynamic environment that allows people to live, work and play all in one place,” said Ralph Zucker, president of Inspired by Somerset Development, the developer behind the mixed-use campus. “Swing Loose Indoor Golf is already an immensely popular experience amongst tenants and visitors at Bell Works, and we look forward to seeing that excitement continue with the addition of this new outdoor driving range.”
The driving range is among the latest offerings at Bell Works, which has revitalized the iconic former Bell Labs research campus built between 1962 and 1964. The once-vacant office complex on Crawfords Corner Road is now a mixed-use hub of office space, shops, restaurants and other services, all of it anchored by a quarter-mile-long atrium that serves as an indoor pedestrian boulevard.
The Swing Loose Golf Driving Range has four size buckets of balls to choose from and is open seven days a week through mid-November, weather-permitting. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own clubs, although Callaway clubs are available on site to demo.
In announcing the debut of the new space, Zucker noted that Holmdel residents previously had to drive 20 to 30 minutes to the nearest outdoor driving range.
“The metroburb has been a great location for Swing Loose, as its thriving community of businesses and bustling atmosphere has enabled us to grow exponentially since our opening in 2020,” said Swing Loose Indoor Golf co-owners Peter Myers and James Fiore. “Good old-fashioned driving ranges have often been treated as obsolete sites in recent years, and we’re thrilled to be able to expand our offering and provide the metroburb and surrounding Holmdel community with a truly full-range outdoor golf experience.”
