Catalyst Development Partners LLC has secured final approvals to build nearly 61,000 square feet of new warehouse space in Edison, the firm announced last week.
In a news release, the privately held firm said it expects to break ground later this year on the two-building project at 135 Whitman Ave., with completion slated for late 2025. Its plans call for a 50,400-square-foot warehouse with office space and a second facility measuring 10,125 square feet, both designed to accommodate industrial and distribution uses.
The approvals by Edison’s planning board follow what Catalyst said was significant environmental remediation at the property, which was overseen by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The cleanup culminated in a Response Action Outcome issued last December, confirming that the site has been remediated in compliance with state environmental regulations and safe for redevelopment.
“We are excited to move forward with the redevelopment of 135 Whitman Avenue, a project that aligns with our mission of transforming underutilized properties into thriving industrial assets,” said Mike McMullen, managing principal of Catalyst Development Partners. “This approval paves the way for economic growth and job creation while ensuring environmental responsibility.”
The project, proposed by Catalyst affiliate 135 Whitman Renewal LLC, will redevelop a 6.71-acre property in the township’s L-I Light Industrial Zone, the news release said. The proposal also aligns with Edison’s master plan and will feature extensive landscaping, lighting and infrastructure improvements.
As part of the project, Catalyst Development Partners has committed to maintaining access to the adjacent Edison dog park through an easement agreement and implementing traffic management measures to minimize local impact.
