A charter school has leased 35,000 square feet at an office building in downtown Newark, under a newly announced transaction by Lee & Associates New Jersey.
Brokers with the firm say the operator, University Heights Charter School, is relocating to 570 Broad St. from a smaller space in the city. It will start the 2021-2022 academic year in the new space, which was already built out for a charter school, following the lease with the Berger Organization.
“We are fortunate to be able to have helped University Heights Charter School relocate to a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Newark,” said Jerry Joseph, an assistant vice president with Lee & Associates New Jersey. “We hope this space helps the charter grow and continue to create a successful and healthy learning environment for its students.”
Joseph represented the school alongside associates Kyle Janoczkin and Tarang Ramani. In a news release, they noted that 570 Broad is close to Whole Foods Market, rail service and other amenities in the downtown.
“We’ve seen increasing demand for charter schools in Newark and are honored to represent these institutions in real estate transactions that help them reach new students,” Janoczkin said.
