Members of New Jersey’s commercial real estate industry will be on hand next week for a popular golf tournament supporting Special Olympics New Jersey.
The tournament, the Higgins Classic, will mark its 29th anniversary on June 24 when it takes place at the Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Far Hills. Named after former Special Olympics New Jersey President Michael Higgins, the event has enabled more than 26,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities to train and compete year-round in 24 Olympic-style sports, free of charge.
Last year’s Higgins Classic raised more than $266,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey, according to a news release. The tournament is among several that benefit the organization, drawing support from commercial real estate firms such as Hollister Construction Services, which is based in Parsippany.
This year’s Higgins Classic will offer golfers advice, anecdotes and helpful golf tips from professional golfers, the news release said. Other activities will include a silent auction and a raffle that includes trips and prizes, such as United Airlines tickets, foursomes at top New Jersey golf courses, pro shop gift certificates and golf bags.
The event also includes hole-in-one contests and a wine tasting during the evening reception, which will feature Chris Cree, owner of 56 Degree Wine in Bernardsville, as a guest speaker.
