A real estate attorney at Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC is among seven to receive a promotion to start the year at the West Orange-based firm.

Lisa A. John-Basta, who was formerly counsel, has been elevated to member in the firm’s real estate, development and land use group. CSG described her as a co-author of the state’s pre-eminent treatise on land use and zoning, who has spent more than a decade guiding developers and municipalities on matters relating to zoning, redevelopment, land use and entitlements.
Also promoted to member were Diana L. Buongiorno and Brian Kantar, while Lindsay A. Dischley, Joseph G. Fenske, Patrick O’Reilly and Beth J. Rotenberg were promoted to counsel.
John-Basta regularly appears before governing bodies, planning boards and zoning boards across the state on behalf of developers in connection with applications for site plan, subdivision, variances and zoning interpretations, according to her bio. Her practice also heavily concentrates on guiding developers through the redevelopment process, such as by working closely with municipal government to designate areas in need of redevelopment, adoption of redevelopment plans, negotiation of redevelopment agreements and the entry into long-term and short-term tax abatement agreements.
Prior to joining CSG, Lisa was counsel at what is now Genova Burns. She also served as a judicial law clerk to Superior Court Judge Theodore Bozonelis.
