A global fitness franchise has inked plans to open a new 15,000-square-foot location in Riverdale, where it is backfilling the anchor space at a Route 23 shopping center.
Brokers with Cushman & Wakefield represented ownership at the property, Riverdale Square, in the deal with UFC GYM. The operator will join other tenants at the 72,000-square-foot complex, which sits at 92 Route 23 North, and is slated to open this fall.
C&W’s David Townes and Alana Friedman completed the assignment out of the firm’s East Rutherford office, securing the lease within two months of winning the agency assignment. Susan Preisler of Zoltek Realty represented the tenant.
“Consumers are more health conscious than ever before, making fitness/wellness concepts of all types and sizes welcome additions to a shopping center’s co-tenancy,” Townes said. “We are confident this tenant will add an important new element to Riverdale Square, and become a sought-after amenity for those who live and work in the community.”
UFC GYM creates training programs for all levels and ages inspired by the training regimens of UFC athletes, C&W said in a news release. The facility will offer a full range of group fitness classes, private mixed martial arts training and MMA-style youth programming.
Its new location in Riverdale is home to a mix of national, regional and local retailers, restaurants and service providers. Located just off Interstate 287, the center serves a residential population of more than 106,000 people within a five-mile radius and a daily traffic count of 53,500 vehicles.
“There are a variety of other opportunities remaining available at Riverdale Square, including a fully built restaurant,” Townes said.
