Fields Construction Co. has completed vertical construction at a project that will deliver 255 new high-end apartments to Jersey City’s Paulus Hook neighborhood, the firm said Thursday.
The 15-story project, located at 207 Van Vorst St., is on track for completion this fall, Fields announced after celebrating a topping out ceremony at the site. When complete, the property will include new luxury units along with 7,237 square feet of retail space.
It is one of two developments on Van Vorst Street by the Hoboken-based construction management firm and developer. In late 2016, Fields announced the start of construction for 197 Van Vorst St., which will feature 153 units and 7,305 square feet of retail space across 16 floors.
Both projects, which are being developed by Fields Development Group, were designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve, according to a news release. McLaren Engineering Group is providing structural engineering design and construction support for the buildings, which are adjacent to St. Peter’s Preparatory School and within walking distance of the PATH and NJ Transit light rail lines.
“The completion of vertical construction of 207 Van Vorst is an important milestone for a project that is challenging from a construction perspective due to its location in a densely-populated section of Jersey City, right next to a school,” Fields Construction Principal Jim Caulfield said in a prepared statement. “As we look to take on new projects throughout New Jersey and the greater region, this development will serve as a shining example of the world-class work our talented team is able to produce both on time and within budget.”
